Markings & Lines in your Wildling Tools

Markings & Lines in your Wildling Tools

Curious about those striations that may look like cracks, markings, or differences in color on your Empress or Aura Stone?

We get it! We often receive questions about the 'imperfections' on our gua sha tools, and we're here to alleviate any concern or confusion you may have on this matter.

Here's the scoop:

Wildling's Aura and Empress tools are hand crafted with 100% authentic Bian Stone. Many of our gua sha tools do contain natural striations, marks or lines running through them. These markings are naturally occurring within Bian stone and are a sure sign that your Wildling Stone is potent, authentic, and one of a kind.

Why did we choose to carve our stones from this material? Because it works!

Bian Stone was created when a meteor struck a mountain in ancient China. It contains an amalgamation of 40+ minerals and is said to emit ultrasound pulsations, far infrared rays, and negative ions as a result of the cosmic impact — all of which are known for their antioxidant and anti-aging effects on cells and DNA. The lines and markings within the stone are a result of this impact and what gives Bian Stone its super power properties.

Additionally, Bian Stone is one of the original pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Medicine (305-205 BC) is widely recognized as one of the most important TCM texts. In this text, Bian stone is considered to be as important as acupuncture, herbal cupping, moxibustion, or massage.

Over time, Bian stone's role has faded somewhat but it's efficacy and history remain. This is why we at Wildling have chosen Bian stone for our Empress Stone, Aura Stone, and Empress Wand. By carving our tools from 100% Bian stone, we are honoring the TCM roots of gua sha.

At Wildling, each tool is individually hand-crafted from natural stone, so slight differences in color/sheen/thickness will occur. This is another true sign of authenticity. We are committed to processing our tools as minimally as possible, thus maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of Bian Stone.

So, those lines, veins, or marks you may have been wondering about on your tool? They actually contribute to your stone's superpowers!
