Day 21 Photo

Congratulations — you’ve officially made it through the 21-Day Gua Sha Challenge! After today’s ritual, snap your final photo. Remember to take your photos in the same place, at the same time to access similar light. Natural light is best. Send them to us with your before photos, just hit reply right here on this email, and feel free to include a note on how these rituals made you feel.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

Start Everyday with the Aura Ritual

Dry brush daily and apply the Aura Activator and Aura Oil to maximize your results. Focus on a different area of the body with gua sha each day.

If you experience bruising or marks from gua sha, wait until bruising has faded before working on it again.

This video will demonstrate the full Aura Ritual step-by-step.

Today's tutorial will focus on gua sha for the hands and wrists.

TUTORIAL

Hand & Wrist Therapy

In our electronic world, our hands need more help than ever. Pain and tension are a result of stagnation - this stagnation happens with repetitive use (hello phone and computer work). This tutorial will address how to open up the flow in the hands and wrists to relieve pain, tension, and tightness.

Always start by applying Aura Activator and Aura Oil.

—1 —
Start by stretching the fingers back from the palm to open the flow, as shown in the video.

— 2 —
Use the U edge of the stone to sweep from the fingertip to the palm on each finger.

— 3 —
Us the rounded end of the tool to massage from the base of each finger to the center of the palm. Follow with several strokes, using the wavy edge, over the entire palm and inner forearm.

— 4 —

Now for the back of the hand. Using the rounded end, massage from the knuckles down to the wrist. Work into any tender spots in between the tendons. Follow with several strokes, using the wavy edge, over the outer forearm.

FIELD NOTES

Another super common gua sha mistake? Using the wrong pressure in the wrong areas. For the most part, facial gua sha is a gentle endeavor. Harder does not equal better or more effective. Moving lymph effectively requires a light touch.

EXTRA CREDIT

Fascia is one of the deep subdermal layers touched and manipulated by gua sha. This article shares nine facts about fascia, also known as the body’s “invisible skin.”
